Grumps

Grumps is an ongoing project and homage to my grandfather, Chris Hughes. My fascination in gender stereotypes, inspired me to look closely into the idea of masculinity. I decided to question how I see masculinity in my own life, leading me to my grandfather. This work documents my grandfather’s slow paced life at the seaside of Sussex, his tender family relationships and quiet day to day life. The project serves as a record of a someone who, to me, portrays the many traits of what a man is: a loving husband, supportive father and devoted grandparent.
